They&#8217;ve come up with how many searches compare to some typical food items. Problem is, the carbon footprint or power-use for any given item isn&#8217;t that simple of a calculation &#8211; in fact it&#8217;s dizzyingly complex.</p>
<p>Anyway, Google&#8217;s relationship to power efficiency is <a href="http://www.google.com/corporate/green/datacenters/index.html" target="_blank">explicated here</a> &#8211; but it doesn&#8217;t really mention their <a href="http://wweek.com/editorial/3430/11061/" target="_blank">draconian bullying of power companies</a> to get them electricity at cost (or lower).</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong &#8211; I love Google &#8211; they offer some great products for free. With great power comes great responsibility, however&#8230;.</p>
